Over the past few decades or so, there have been a wealth of studies proving the positive impact journaling can have on our overall well-being, especially on our mental health. As well as keeping your brain active and sharp, the physical act of journaling puts you into a meditative type state, helping to relieve any anxieties and worries and bringing clarity and manifestations to life.
Other benefits include:
➰ Boosts mindfulness
➰ Clarifies thoughts and feelings
➰ Builds confidence
➰ Improves writing skills & communication
➰ Tracks goals and personal growth
➰ Reduces stress/anxiety/daily worries
➰ Improves memory and imagination
➰ Helps intentions & manifestations
Journaling is a great self-care technique as getting your thoughts and feelings out of your head and onto paper helps process negative thoughts and feelings by releasing them - by getting it all out onto paper you are freeing up space in your brain allowing thoughts to have less power over you. (Psychologists call this technique the expressive coping method) It can be a compelling way to process stress/trauma and can be especially helpful if you’re going through a big life change or you’re struggling with anxiety.
I always advise my clients to journal, daily if possible, even if it’s for just five minutes at the start or end of their day. Give it a try, don’t think too much and don’t worry about what comes out onto the paper. It’s for your eyes only so just write from the heart, be truthful and honest and see how it makes you feel.
